I don't often do this, partly because I'm such a slow writer, but mostly because I just don't like taking prompts from other people simply because I'm a paranoid nit about getting characters wrong and/or letting down the prompter/requester. But, alas, I'm a sucker for bandwagons, and since I've already left prompts for 3 other people, it would be beyond selfish of me to not post as well.
The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request a drabble of any pairing/character of their choosing from me. Please also include a PROMPT (1-3 words or a phrase/quote) because I can't be left to think of something on my own, or it'll never get done. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level. If you absolutely can't write, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to offer drawings or icons or something instead. Last bit ain't mandatory.
I reserve the right to turn down a pairing/prompt if I don't like it. To save you the trouble, these are DEFINITE "no"s: Prowl/Jazz, Prime/Bumblebee, Prime/Elita. I normally only do G1/IDW, but depending on the pairing/prompt, I can try my hand at movie 'verse (first movie only - I've been avoiding spoilers for the second like the plague). I don't do Animated - sorry. I can tryyyyy to do pr0n, but I'm even slower at that than I am at regular writing, so request at your own risk D: Sticky is perfectly fine if that's what you want, but you'll have to specify. My default is tactile/spark.
These will probably be done on the train to California next week, so sorry if it takes a while D:

Cybertron was disturbingly quiet.
Before the war, Cybertron as a whole was a noisy, bustling planet, the atmosphere filled with constant tones, static, notes, music, and transmissions all being fired from mech to mech, femme to femme, throughout all breems and kliks of the orn. Those noises were accompanied by the telltale roars of many different models and varieties of engines as citizens weaved their way through the towering buildings and each other to go about their, at the time, peaceful lives.
Now, Cybertron was as quiet as space itself - no music, no voices on the air, no engines rumbling. There was not even the soft noise of static to be heard - all the radio towers which may have once fueled it were destroyed long ago. The silence was eerie, unnerving, and depressing.
The only positive aspect was that, with such encompassing silence, it was impossible to not hear when someone was approaching from behind.
When he heard the first step, Jazz lifted his head from where he had been staring down toward the broken city streets far below where he and the other Autobots were recouping. When the steps only grew closer, Jazz turned to face the newcomer. He expected Prowl, Ratchet, or Kup - maybe even Trailbreaker or Blaster - but he could not fully hide a slight flicker of his visor in surprise when he identified who approached him.
"Figured you could use a break," Tracks' said, his smooth voice flowing easily through the choking silence. "You've been out here almost six cycles. Everybody's had a quick recharge but you."
"I'm fine," Jazz assured him with a dismissive wave of one hand. "I'd rather be out here keepin' watch than in there worryin' about everythin' else." He turned back to the balcony then glanced to his side when he saw blue and white at the edge of his vision.
"Mind if I join you then?" Tracks asked. "Prowl and Kup don't have anything for me to do, and I've got too much pent up energy to go offline."
"Be my guest - two sets of optics're better than one, yeah?" Jazz grinned as his tone of voice turned gently teasing. "'Course, 'ya could just go tell the others another story. Get their spirits back up again." His grin widened just a little when his comment earned him a soft, embarrassed noise from the red-faced mech.
"I'm afraid I burned out my one good story already," Tracks responded with a small grin of his own. He lifted his head to gaze at the sky. "I'm just glad it helped. So many of them were ready to give up and walk away - all I did was remind them that they're Autobots, and Autobots stick together to the end."
Jazz nodded and leaned forward against the edge of the balcony again to return his gaze to the streets below. "S'a good thing to remind them of, especially now."
"I know." Tracks' attention drifted back to his white companion as his own grin widened. "After all, you're the one who taught me that."

Date: 2009-06-18 03:05 am (UTC)"You have a very unique voice, Jazz. It wasn't that hard." The blue and white mech shrugged. "Besides, you clearly didn't want to be identified, so when I finally met you when I was in decent shape and realized you were the one from that orn, I didn't say anything. I just wish I'd been able to see you in action back then. I bet Razorclaw's still hurting."
Jazz barked out a laugh and turned back to the skyline. "I doubt that, but I thank 'ya for the vote of confidence anyway." His grin found its way back on his face as he watched the stars beyond the broken spires of the city. "It's not that I didn't wanna be identified - I jus' figured what I said would sink in better an' stick with 'ya if there wasn't a name to go with it."
"Well, it did that," Tracks admitted, and Jazz started to respond, but he cut himself off when he felt something brush against his back, glancing quickly to his side to see that Tracks had moved. "But because I felt I couldn't approach you about it before, I never got a chance to properly thank you for saving my life."
"And 'ya decided now was better?" Jazz asked, but he did not pull away from the fingers working their way under the plating of his lower back. "One of yer superior officers could come out here any time, y'know."
"You're one of my superior officers," Tracks' voice smoothed over Jazz's sensor horn as his fingers found a bundle of wires to thread through. "Tell me to stop."
Jazz shifted his stance so he could pull away from Tracks' hand without getting the other mech's fingers tangled in his wiring, and once he was sure that would not happen, he turned around to face Tracks, leaning back against the balcony and propping himself against it with his elbows. "Technically, we're even anyway," Jazz pointed out, but even if the grin had not given away his superior's consent of the situation, the amused tone in his voice would have. "I got 'ya outta there, and 'ya made the fight later on easier for me by plowin' into Divebomb and leavin' me with just Razorclaw to deal with."
Tracks leaned in with his hands on the balcony edge on either side of Jazz, optics to visor, hoods almost touching. "That doesn't count," he chided the white mech. "Besides, I want to make sure I thank you thoroughly." When the last micron of space between them closed and hood scraped softly against hood, there was not much telling whose engine gave off the first purr - maybe it was simultaneous. "Now, are you going to let me show my gratitude or not?"
"Well..." Jazz's grin widened as the glow of his visor darkened. "If you insist."
